One of
Italy’s youngest ski resorts, Monterosa consists of three
valleys namely Alagna, Champoluc and Gressoney. It is situated at
the foot of Monte Rosa, a mountain mass in Western Europe on the
Swiss-Italian border. The three valleys move as a single district
especially in terms of working towards the advancement of the area
as a prime winter and summer destination.
Monterosa has all the elements needed to attract
visitors. It is a resort composed of beautiful villages in a delightfully
untouched setting. The area has several hotels and apartments that
are designed to complement and not distract from the captivating
panorama.
This winter destination offers a host of activities,
which of course includes skiing and others such as snowboarding,
downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and mountain climbing. It
offers good skiing for the intermediate-level skiers but may prove
a little difficult for beginners. Advanced skiers may opt for more
challenging run by venturing off-piste but having a guide is strongly
recommended.
Monterosa does not limit itself to being a winter
destination but has prospered into being a prime summer attraction
as well. Some activities visitors can engage in are playing golf
or tennis, horse-back riding, walking or just simply relaxing in
numerous fitness and wellness facilities. The valleys of Monterosa
are beautiful when snow covered in winter as it is dressed up in
colors of nature in summer.
Monterosa’s main attraction lies in it being
relatively undiscovered thereby affording visitors that much needed
space allowing for real relaxation. By virtue of this condition,
the ski areas, hotels and restaurants all give exceptional values.
It also has to its advantage the spectacular view of the Monte Rosa
glaciers.
