Cortina d'Ampezzo

Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy is considered the most picturesque winter destination in the world. A second home to many people belonging to the high end market of Rome and Milan, Cortina showcases the distinctive alpine charm combined with the stylishness of Milan. The resort's location permits the area slopes to take in a fair amount of shade as well as sun.

Accommodations are understandably difficult to find during the peak of the ski season. Cortina d'Ampezzo has about 65 hotels mostly located in the main village. Most hotels are ranked three or four star establishments. Rental apartments and private rentals are also available to suit lower budgets.

Cortina d'Ampezzo is the ultimate recreation center. It offers one of the best nursery slopes in Europe although it primarily caters to intermediate skiers. It also offers heliskiing, cross-country skiing, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice climbing, ice skating, ice hockey, sleigh riding and snowshoeing. Other activities are made possible by its year-round schedule of events and festivals, museums and various health and entertainment facilities. Cortina has summer activities as well that assures arrival of visitors even after the ski season. It hosts an annual short film festival participated in by filmmakers from around the world.

Cortina d'Ampezzo's proximity to Venice is one of its advantages over the other ski destinations. It boasts of an ultra-modern lift system. Its ski activities and ski-and-shop establishments are considered one of Europe’s best. The winter sports competitions are well known and have become much-awaited events.
