The
best place to shop in Milan is along the four adjoining streets found
north of the Duomo, popularly known as the Quadrilatero d'Oro,
or Golden Quadrilateral to the non-Italian speakers. This is the best
place to fill your fashion quota, as the streets are lined with high-fashion
emporia. To get to this fashion haven, go through Via Manzoni, then
get off at San Babila, the closest stop when you're going via
Metro. For the cream of the crop, head straight to Via Montenapoleone,
where the most elegant items can be found. But
if you're not looking for signature clothing, head on over
to Corso Buenos Aires. To get there, just follow Via Vitruvio from
the Piazza Duca d'Aosta in front of the station, then get
off the Metro at either Lima or Loreto. Here you will find bargains
of all kinds, from dress shirts, to CD megastores. As you head south,
you will approach Corso Venezia, where the prices will then go up
as you go along.
Fashionistas of every kind will definitely have
the time of their lives when shopping in Milan. The city is the
home of flagship stores for numerous designer labels such as Armani,
Versace, Ermenegildo Zegna, Moschino, and Trussardi. These labels
cost much less in Italian cities than in other countries, so better
take advantage of that. Saldi or sales, usually run from January
to February.
Other items you can purchase in Milan include
housewares, fine porcelain ceramics, and linen.
