There
are various way to enjoy the delightful sights and sounds of Florence.
You can take your pick from a variety of live music acts and venues,
classical music and opera shows, films, theater, and even spectator
sports.
Jazz aficionados will find the Santa Croce and
East of the Center Bar a happening place to spend the evenings,
being one of the most popular spots in the city to listen to jazz
music. Bebop is another place to check out, especially if you're
into blues and jazz. On other nights, Bebop also offers a good range
of music from different genres onstage. For various musical acts,
M'areseis is the place to go, located in Via de' Bardi.
For classical music and opera, you can go to the
Teatro Comunale on Corso Italia 12. An array of concerts, opera,
and dance shows are often going on in this venue. Other theaters
you can check for shows are Teatro Verdi on Via Ghibellina 101 and
the Teatro della Pergola on Via della Pergola 18, where the Amici
della Musica organise concerts.
Films shown in Florence very seldom come in its
original language, meaning English with Italian subtitles. However,
the Odeon Cinehall shows such films on Mondays and Tuesdays, while
the Cinema Fulgo screens them Thursdays. Other places to watch films
in are Chiardiluna and the Cinema Poggetto.
For theatrical shows, keep in mind that theater
season in Florence is from October until May. Productions are staged
in Ex-Stazione Leopolda on Viale Fratelli Rosselli 5 and the Teatro
della Limonaia.
There is also something for football fans in this
beautiful city. Every Florentine is passionate about the sport,
and if you want to catch a match, tickets are available at the Studio
Comunale Artemio Franchi and at the Chiosco degli Sportivi.
