The IVA (Imposta di Valore Aggiunto) is a value added tax, which ranges between 12% and 35%, depending on the item. The IVA will be added to most purchases in Italy.

If your purchase is over e335 and you are Non-European citizen, a refund will be available if the purchase was made at a participating store that displays a "Tax Free" sign. After completing a form, the IVF will be deducted from your bill. You can also receive a refund at customs on your departure by presenting your receipts and purchases.
